'Oehme' is a clump forming upright sedge that produces tall stems with small grass-like leaves surrounding them, giving them the appearance of miniature palm trees. This particular variety is variegated with thin yellow stripes at the edges of its leaves. It can tolerate full sun to partial shade and needs consistently moist to wet soil. It is especially suited for mass plantings along ponds or streambanks where it can spread and naturalize as well as water gardens and rain gardens. It also provides shelter to amphibians and its seed heads are favored by waterfowl and songbirds as a food source.
