Native
This variety of Amsonia naturally occurs in moist woodlands, streambanks, and open fields. It has pale blue flowers with white centers that emerge in spring and are attractive to butterflies and other pollinators. It is a great choice for a groundcover in shadier, moist areas of the garden, although it can withstand some drought once established. It can also be cut back after flowering or if the plants open up and begin to appear leggy.
