This newer compact selection of oakleaf hydrangea from the United States National Arboretum was selected for its smaller, more compact habit and sturdy upright blooms which are not-so-small. White pyramidal flower panicles 9" long are held above the foliage and upright on sturdy stems. Flowers open white, but quickly turn pale pink and then deepen to rose. In fall, the color matures to a notable mahogany-red.
