Annual
Duranta 'Sapphire Showers'
Duranta
This tropical plant available in both bush and standard form has beautiful clusters of purple and white flowers that form along the tips of the plant and trail downwards. It is a vigorous grower that can easily be trimmed back and will continue to bloom after, especially with regular fertilizing. Bees are fans of the flowers, and the ones that get pollinated turn into attractive orange drupes that look quite attractive when left on the plant. It does best in containers, although the bush form could be used in annual beds and borders. It will continue to bloom until temperatures drop in fall, when it would need to be brought inside.
