Perennial
Large deep red flowers are held high above a mound of dark green foliage that appears marbled with its white veins. The blooms face upwards instead of drooping down like some older varieties of Hellebores, allowing them to be enjoyed by passerby. They are also a huge hit with pollinators who are drawn to the flowers as an early nectar source. This plant can tolerate from full shade to partial sun and requires evenly moist, rich soils to look its best. It makes a fantastic impact when planted en masse as a tall groundcover in woodland gardens, used in shadier beds and borders, and is also a stunning specimen to use for winter or early spring containers. The flowers are also excellent for use in cut flower arrangements or when the cut blooms are arranged to float on top of bowls of water.
