An appealing and relatively easy to grow deciduous shade tree with pyramidal form and glossy green foliage. This popular landscape tree (responds well to various landscape situations), transplant easily, and grows relatively fast for an oak. The distinctive branching habit consists of ascending upper branches, horizontal middle branches and descending lower branches. Prefers moist loams but does tolerate poorly drained soils and some flooding. Fall color varies however is usually quite (distinguished)notable. (Widely used as a residential, commercial, and/or urban shade tree.)
