A very popular ornamental grass noted for its naturally well-groomed habit, vertical lines, early bloom, and tolerance of wet soils. Feathery, purplish-green plumes of summer flowers gradually mature to tawny seedheads holding interest through fall and winter. Seedheads are sterile. A 2001 Perennial Plant of the Year.
