Perennial
'Dragonfly Sakura' is a fantastic shade plant that offers a lot of interest! In spring it produces tall light brown flower stalks topped by clusters of bright pink star-shaped flowers that are highly showy and work great as cut flowers for arrangements. Its leaves are large, leathery, and have a deep green sheen that take on a purple-red hue in fall and winter (in our Zone the plants may be semi-evergreen or decidious, depending on how severe the weather is). It will slowly expand its clump of foliage via rhizomes, making it a good choice for areas that may be susceptible to erosion. It requires full to partial shade, and moist well-drained soil since plants are not tolerant of drought. Its unique appearance make it perfect for use along the edges of shadier beds and borders, along pathways, and in mass plantings as an attractive groundcover.
