Aquilegia canadensis
Columbine
Plant Type: Native
This native Columbine has stunning red and yellow flowers with dramatic spurs that dangle high above the plant and are adored by butterflies and hummingbirds! It naturally occurs in rocky woods, slopes, and open areas. It thrives in full to partial sun and moist well drained soils. If these conditions are met, it will readily naturalize and spread year after year; a welcome addition to any garden to be sure! Deadheading the spent flowers on the plant early in the season will encourage the plant to continue to bloom. It would look fantastic planted along woodland edges, in cottage gardens, pollinator gardens, or meadow-style plantings.
