Aruncus aethusifolius

Dwarf Goat's Beard

Plant Type: Perennial

This variety of Goat's Beard is much smaller than the native species and its compact form makes it perfect for smaller spaces. It has a tidy mound of fine leaved foliage and in summer produces tall plumes of creamy white flowers that look very similar to Astilbes. It provides interest in fall as well once its leaves turn orange and yellow. It is very tolerant of wet soils which make it perfect for plantings along the waters edge or in bogs, or in moist areas in or around woodlands. It would also work well along shady woodland paths or beds. Other than cutting back the spent flowerheads, it is very low maintanence, generally resistant to pests and diseases, and also is deer resistant!
