Astilbe x arendsii 'Bridal Veil'
False Spirea
Bright white flower plumes.
Astilbe are low maintanence, shade tolerant plants that produce tall, graceful plumes of flowers above attractive, green fern-like foliage. They are the perfect way to bring color into shadier parts of the garden, where their flowers are enjoyed by butterflies. They are also deer and rabbit resistant! They do require rich, moist soil in order to look their best, which is often easy for them to have when they are planted in the shady woodland settings they prefer. They look stunning when planted in groupings, in shadier perennial beds and borders, and also by streams and ponds. The flowers, which also work very well as cut flowers for arrangements, do not need to be deadheaded unless it is desired.
