Calamagrostis brachytricha 'Caspian'
Feather Reed Grass
Plant Type: Ornamental Grass
'Caspian' features tall, fluffy pink flower plumes that emerge above its clumps of thin green foliage in late summer and it also has the added interest of its foliage changing to yellow in the fall. The plumes gradually fade to tan as the season goes on but will remain until winter when they naturally fall off. It requires full sun and also consistently moist to wet soils, making it ideal for use at the edge of streams and ponds although it can adapt to average soil conditions over time once established. Its plumes look great when planted en masse or in groupings and it can also be used in any areas of the landscape where drainage is an issue as an attractive solution.
