Carex socialis forms clumps of finely textured green leaves that are up to 18" long and gracefully arch downwards. It naturallly occurs in floodplain forests, streambanks, and swamp edges. It requires partial sun to partial shade and moist soil. It works very well when planted at woodland edges in groups with other perennials, along streams or ponds, or also en masse as a groundcover.
