Clematis paniculata
Sweet Autumn Clematis
Plant Type: Perennial
This Clematis is covered in masses of sweet smelling 1" white star-shaped flowers from late summer to fall. It is a vigorous climber that can grow a lot in one season. It requires full to partial sun and prefers moist but well drained soil. It is deer and rabbit resistant while the flowers are highly attractive to pollinators, butterflies, and hummingbirds. Since it grows so quickly it does require a fence, arbor, wall, or strong trellis to keep it upright, preferably near houses or patios where the scent can be enjoyed! Once flowering is over, it creates wispy seedheads that are quite attractive and maintain interest.
