'Maurelli' is a stunning variety of ornamental Banana with a deep burgundy trunk and extra large leaves that are a rich deep green with burgundy highlights in their veins. It is a fantastic choice as a standout for tropical summer beds and also when showcased in large containers with other tropicals. The leaves can tear easily in the wind but can be trimmed off as needed; although arguably the weathered leaves lend it an authentic tropical effect! It can grow quite large pretty quickly even just within the season. It can do well in full to partial sun, although the coloration will look the best the more sun it gets.
