Stokesia laevis 'Blue Danube'
Plant Type: Perennial
An enchanting low maintenance southern wildflower with large (4") cornflower-like flowers of lavender-blue beginning in June and intermittently blooming until fall if spent flowers are removed before going to seed. Flowers are elevated above the low basal foliage on upright stems and tend to flop less than other selections. Prefers moist well-drained locations but is tolerant of hot dry locations. In warm locations foliage is evergreen and in colder locations, plants benefit from a winter mulch.
