Vaccinium corymbosum 'Duke'
Highbush Blueberry
Plant Type: Shrub
One of the major players of early season blueberry crop production. 'Duke' blooms later in spring so that it avoids frosts yet fruit ripens early. Generally known as a high-yielding variety producing an abundant crop of deep blue fruit. Fruit has a nice flavor that may be a bit tart if harvested later rather than sooner. A vigorous shrub with handsome green summer foliage and a mixture of red, orange and yellows in the fall. Prefers acidic soil.
